There’s something really fun about giving someone something that they didn’t enter for, and that they totally didn’t expect. Last week, we had the chance to do just that for Mary Walck, who leased a new Hyundai Elantra. She posted a review of her experience on DealerRater, and as fortune would have it, it was our 2 millionth review.
We weren’t running a contest. We just decided to do something special for whoever posted that review, which we knew had been coming for a few months.
Mary Walck retired last May after working 25 years for a solder manufacturer that supplied the jewelry industry. “I was in charge of customer service, dealing with people from all over the world,” she told us. “It was a job that I completely enjoyed.”
After living their entire life in the same town, Mary and her husband – who retired last year from the U.S. Postal Service – moved to Smithville (NJ) and purchased a house in an over-55 community.
Mary had leased a Honda Civic and the term was coming to an end. She started shopping around for dealerships online and ended up at Lester Glenn Hyundai of Manahawkin. “It was a totally different experience than we were finding in other dealerships,” she says. “They were so nice and the thing that impressed us the most with our salesman Justin Miner was that he listened to us.”
With their newly fixed income, Mary found that other dealers would work up financing that was well beyond the monthly payment that the Walcks could reasonably afford. “Justin paid attention and helped make it possible for us,” Mary said. “All the people we dealt with at Lester Glenn Hyundai of Manahawkin made it a very easy process.”
After their great experience, Mary wanted to make sure that she recorded it somewhere. She found DealerRater and decided to fill out the review. “When I saw the survey online, I knew I wanted to review my experience so others would understand that it does not have to be painful to buy or lease a car,” she said. “It was an easy survey and I answered the questions honestly knowing that I would be helping others in their search for a great dealership.”
DealerRater recorded the review, determined it was the 2 millionth, and paid Mary Walck’s total lease payments. “Never did I expect that I would win such a wonderful prize! This has been a truly unbelievable experience and I thank everyone at DealerRater for this amazing gift,” she wrote us.
